The following
CPIM Certification process information pertains to U.S.,
Canada, and Mexico candidates only.
After
completing the course of study for each module, it is
recommended that you demonstrate your mastery of the
subject area by taking the corresponding exam.
Individuals must pass all FIVE (5) of the modules to
receive the Certified in Production and Inventory
Management (CPIM) designation. Other
professionals choose to educate themselves on the CPIM
concepts without pursuing certification.
The decision to become certified is an individual
choice; however, if you do decide to pursue
certification, WE encourage you to test immediately
after completing the course of study for each module
rather than waiting until you have completed the entire
program. This way the material is still
“fresh” in your mind. Even though your workplace
may be involved in activities that the exams cover, the
exact terms and applications taught in the classes may
NOT be the same on the job. This tends to weaken
one’s retention of the course materials taught and later
tested on. We also HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you
take the exam within 15 days of completing the course.
Our “students” have shown us that those testing within
the 15 days pass more often than those that wait.
Those taking the exam 30 days after the course have been
the least likely to pass.
Request a CPIM
Registration Bulletin to make an exam appointment.
APICS’ CPIM exams are offered via computer-based testing
(CBT) at contracted testing providers. To
request a free copy of the CPIM Certification Bulletin,
call APICS Customer Service (1-800-444-APICS) and

contains information on registration procedures, details
on examinations and fees, a listing of test center
locations, and other pertinent facts.
